actaly, i meant that guy, arin gend i think his name was, and no, i didnt mean we girls should be able to get aribeth to fall for us

i meant that we should have been able to maybe find a way to save her boyfriend, even if it meant him alive but in exile.egsile. cant come home on pain of death

and, i meant that we needed some other guys for the girls, and some other girls for the guys ect...at least one per race type. imagine a handsom warrior getting chatted up by a half ork gal....^^

as to low magic, the lowes magic places i ever saw were first fraghause krynn (not recomended, it was nasty place and nasty forum wehn i first started neverwinter) and Rickterms retreats Nordock server called Nordock: Dawn of Heroes. but that is very hard and has no prestige classess and you need to grind crafting to make much cash.

normal rr nordock was fun, so long as you ether made a nordock world based char and stayed with the non Kazarn bunch, or a any-other-type char and wasnt bothered about you being a Kazarn ^^
(Kazarn, a nordock rr term for a character ether based from tv/film/game/book or for a character that is from another world other than nordock. say, a Planewalker from Planescape or the multiple Drizz Do'Urdens and Gandalf and leggies you see people make)

Absolutely GW is about action. I would almost dare to call it an FPS (First Person Shooter in case you didn't know hehe). It is basically an action shooter game with RPG elements thrown into the PvE game. The PvP stuff is strictly FPS.

Ah, yes. NWN. I loved NWN. I thought the original campaign was lacking.. Shadows of Unrentide (First expansion pack) was.. Eh.. Now, Hordes of the Underdark (2nd Expansion pack) was pretty decent. In HotU, Aribeth was one of the male love interests. :P

Now for online play, I played NWN on an RP server by the name of Narfell. A great server, but it was different. It was VERY heavy in the RP zone. It was under Story on the game selection list. It had great DMs, who would make awesome storylines. Of course, I never made it past level 6, because in order to gain combat experience after level 6, you needed to prove you were a good RPer and needed to be awarded an "RP Token" from the DMs. Not that I had trouble getting it. I lost interest shortly after, though.. And then I got GW. But if anyone's interested, I'm pretty sure the server is still up, usually about 40+ people on it, low magic. Very low magic. My mage was almost useless. He could cast fireballs, but none of my enchantment spells would last longer then a few minutes.

That was a rather....brief way to begin a thread that suckered me into thinking it was a serious thread about the game NWN.

I like the game, and although its DATED look (because its been out a long time compared to the newer GW) doesn't really make me like it any less. In fact the new sp campaign they released is rather badass.

I don't know, but your opener kinda threw me I guess...

befor coming to GW, i was a NwN fanatic ^^ it was my only other game.

oh, winterclaw, i hear that if you did something for aribeth, something to do with that ceremony to make her an anti-paladin, you could save her or sometheing
yeah, i think both aribeth and us gamers that played females got a bum deal...i mean pah! i wouldnt touch that guy to scratch him, and yet here he is, as the ladies *love interest* lol...im not THAT desperate, dearie....
*SPOILER ALERT*

I completed Hordes of the Underdark and ended up (my male character) falling in love with Aribeth's GHOST after escaping hell and ending the game. The ending to game, which I have screencapped, was badass....

How come no one has mentioned that NWN is loaded with game-breaking crashes, incredibly annoying bugs, and probably the worst interface of all time?

Don't get me wrong, I'm a NWN enthusiast as well. But it deserves mention that NWN was a great idea that was given one of the laziest, most half-assed executions the industry has ever seen. The fact that it's been so successful despite all the crap you have to put up with speaks to the integrity of the core concept, but had Bioware handled things differently (or another developer had) it could have easily become an RPG legend.

It's also worth noting that even after the game was released Bioware continued to dick over their customers on a regular basis, on top of their infuriating game. Anyone remember the SecuROM fiasco, where they were so scared to death of piracy that they actually kept their entire population of paying customers from playing the game they just bought? Then there were little things like forcing you to download patches that turned your launcher into a banner for their next expansion, or filling the updates reserved for NWN news with crap about their new XBox game. And let's not forget this premium module business that forces you to connect and verify that you paid for it every time you want to play - the fact that they're getting people to buy them at all after the laughably bad official campaigns is astonishing.

I only bought NWN, SoU, and HotU. I never had any problems with bugs or crashes. I have no idea what SecuROM is. I don't mind the updating screen, it looks nifty. I choose not to download the newsletters.

But I'm also a fan of Baldur's Gate, so NWN was a BIG let-down storyline-wise. I was expecting something epic. Not the garbage they pushed out. It was so.. Linear..

NWN2 is looking promising. From what I read, it won't be very linear at all.

Ahhh. Really brings back memories. I remember the day when they realesed a new patch that actually caused a crash bug in the SOU campaign. Lol update are supposed to fix things I thought. I really liked the game, I had gotten into teh character building aspect quite heavily on the server I used to play on.

I NEVER had any of the problems mentioned by Darren Jasper. Weird...maybe it was a system build or something. Truly, not once and I have the entire game all the way through all of the premium mods (though I do agree that having to connect and verify my purchase of them is annoying).

Neverwinter Nights is only good as a single players game... sometimes I wish Guild Wars was that way so I wouldn't have to play with humans lol. I love neverwinter nights along with icewind dale. Dungeons and Dragons makes the coolest games!

Have you played on any PWs or with others in MP, Krazzle? My thought is that NWN is best in multiplayer.

Yea, my last character on NWN was a monk.

Wow.

Just wow.

I really got into it, went online after I finished all the campaigns, and was o this server where I completed the original campaign 5 times in 6 hours

And I run FAAAASSSSTTT with that thing!

I <3 NWN.

I reinstalled NWN a week ago or so, thought it may be worth looking back on things.

Not really; I logged on and saw maybe 5 servers using the original game? Everybody switched over to the expansions, and the platinum edition/expansions are nowhere to be found here.

I guess I'll just have to wait for NWN2 .......
